“We Have a Duty to Fight”

Jan 5 – “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is not acting responsibly and in good faith when it does not provide the basic rules for obtaining surface mining permits,” writes West Virginia Delegate Jonathan Miller (R-Berkeley) in an editorial published in both the Charleston Gazette and The Journal.  The permitting rules have changed for no other reason than the Obama Administration’s opposition to surface mining.  Eliminating surface mining in West Virginia will eliminate 40 percent of the state’s coal industry and, in turn, thousands of jobs.  Miller concludes, “With what hangs in the balance – tens of thousands of jobs and a lower standard of living for nearly every West Virginia family – we have a duty to fight.”  Read the full commentary in the Charleston Gazette.
